This song off Good Ass job just leaked {I suspect on purpose cause it's pretty good quality} and it's pretty dope! Well, I guess it's just ok but at this point it's just good to hear anything from this man.
This reminds me alot of Crack Music off Late Registration. I think he re-used that same drum loop which is cool. Actually the more I listen the more I like it, kinda like all the rest of his first singles.
I know its just a song on a somewhat respected mixtape, but this has to be one of the best concept songs ever written, ever. Right up there with Pacs 'Me and my Girlfriend', Jay's 'I know' and 'I used to Love her.' {IMO}
When I realized what they were talking about I couldn't help but smirk at every line. Check it!
My good friend Anthony recently discovered a Canon Ae-1 {Film camera} sitting in his mom's closet, which is somewhat akin to discovering an underground chocholate paradise where you are fed a constant diet mint chocholate chip icecream by girls in Bikinis {Made with soy ofcourse--I'm lactose intolerant}
He had some reluctance to use it at first but when I went to Cuse a couple weeks ago we tested it out and his pics turned out great!
Love the way these look! I feel like they really show you why film is film and digital/video can never be film {I don't care what the 'experts' say}
Check the Jump for some more
and friend him on Facebook cause he's cool!
Soo for a seemingly innocuous day, today was actually a really important day for music. At least for me cause A bunch of dope albums dropped. I was just listening to a few of them and I thought- why not start a new music Tuesdays series....So here we go!

Probably my favorite release of the day was the Black Keys'Brothers. I've been posting a lot about them lately cause they're just ridiculously-fantastic cool, and this Cd doesn't disappoint in the least. I don't have their whole catalogue but this has got to be their best album ever cause if it gets any better my head will literally explode!
To Hiphoppers they are of 'Blacroc' fame, but they've been making music for a while and have a KILLER live show {just a guitarist and drummer and they murder!}
But yeah it's an amazing Blues/Classic Rock/Old R&B/HipHop Album so pick it up!
___ The Black Keys - She's Long Gone
____________
Next is Nas and Damien's Distant Relativeswhich I've also been talking about for a minute.
If for nothing else, this album is dope for the ideas that it represents. It's a little disappointing that it probably won't get recognized for what it is, especially among the African Diaspora, but eff it, it should change at least a mind or two and that makes it worth it.
A lot of people have been saying sketchy stuff about it but in my opinion, although it has slim room for improvement, it's really enjoyable and def lives up to what it's supposed to be.
My favorite song is prob 'Friends' but since I posted that already, we can settle for 'Tribal War' ft K'naan. Dope shit. Africa Unite!
___ Nas, Damien Marley, and Knaan - Tribal War
____________
I have to say, Talib and Hi-tek's Revolutions Per Minute is the disappointment I was expecting it to be. Not that it's bad, don't get me wrong--by today's standards it is a soaring phoenix swooping in save us all from the murky waters of top40 hell--BUUUT, for what these two are capable of, it feels a little redundant, unplanned and hastily made. I dunno maybe it's just me, but I also predicted this outcome based off the singles they released for it.
It's good though-- really feeling a few tracks on here. I would say 3 Sleeping Monkeys out of 5 { I may have just come up with a ratings system lol}
___ Reflection Eternal - Ballad of the Black Gold
____________
Janelle Monet put out her sophomore effort The Archandroid. This one is important because it's the first thing she's put out since garnering a slightly bigger spotlight for herself. It's conceptual but not quite on the same level as her first album which actually makes it really ill {concept albums should come later in one's career}
Reminds me alot of Speakerboxx/The Love Below--Actually it's kinda like the halfway point between The Beatles, Andre 3000 and Lauryn Hill which is a mix good enough to please any being on this planet. The more I listen to it the more I fall in love which is the def the mark of a good album. DEFINATELY check it out! Easily five Sleeping Monkeys, easily.
___ Janelle Monet - Faster
____________
And finally, the Sleigh Bells also put out their debut album Treats recently-I know it wasn't today but whatever, it was a couple days ago and still counts.
Aside from being a complete assault on your ears {which I think is a good thing in their case} I feel like there's a really cool fusion of Hip-Hop and Rock going on here which I def appreciate. A slight bit of intoxication, a dark room, and strobe lights to accompany this album would encompass a very cool, trippy experience. Check em out!
___ Sleigh Bells - A/B Machines
In my continuing Love affair with La Blogotheque's Take away shows, here's one where they film Tom Jones in a hotel room. Yes, the same Tom Jones that most of us think of as lame and old - he seems so much cooler after this!
Seeing a bunch of these really hammers it in that Music is meant to be enjoyed live, cause even good live reproductions of it make you feel something that songs and albums can't.
So as all my fellow internet pirates know, Distant Relatives Leaked and is as amazing as anyone could expect.
This is my favorite off the album, as it stands. But I really am, to say the least, wholly impressed and am definately gonna pick it up when it drops {if I have the money at least}.
Definately get it when it comes out! Support good music or shut the hell up when our Radios start to sound like the gulf coast oil spill.
Nas and Damien Marley - Nah Mean

Nothing goes feels better when visuals accompany great music.
Sight and sound are our two strongest senses and when they're both pleased it feels unreal.
I love the way these guys film music being played live in day to day situations. Really get off on the Rawness of it. Check it out.
. JUMP {fullpost}
While making the last post, it struck me that there was an amazing song by Scarface that I hadn't listened to in a loooong time. It started coming back to me slowly at first and then rushed in like a raging bull.
We used to listen to this while driving around Addis, not neccesarily knowing where we were going, and not caring. It's really is a deep song and the video that accompanies it is really good and quite touching in a way.
Check it out.
I coudn't resist putting this up after what I posted on facebook.
I don't hesistate when saying that this song should be considered a Hip-Hop Classic. Infective chorus, fantastic Beat by Kanye, and three seasoned, and highly skilled MCs featured--what more could you ask for?
It actually makes me a little sad about the thing that happened between Jay and Beens.
Ah well. Maybe someday they'll do a reunion cover of this song. When they're old and have white hair lol. I wish I was quick with photoshop so I could give yall a quick laugh.
"Came from the Dirt
I emerged from it all without a stain on my shirt
You can blame my old earth, for the shit she instilled in me
Still with me, pain plus work
Shit she made me milk this game for all it's worth"
Got back to the city this morning. It's been a couple of good days in Syracuse.
I went went to a fantastic RJD2 concert, slept through a N*E*R*D and K.OS set {sip, sip}, witnessed a terrible Drake concert {my opinion}, went to what I have realized was the best show of my life--Blues musician Leo Crandall {who I shall post about later}, Learnt how to play the card game Kings for the first time {I guess I suck at the college thing,} saw whole lot of cool people and their moms {well just one lol} and just pretty much chilled and vegged out.
But if there's one thing I realized, it's that I don't really physically belong in Syracuse at the time being. The people were cool, but the place started messing with my head a little bit, it's hard to explain. Don't think I've ever felt better about the Bus emerging on 41st st.
I guess NY's like home now or something.
Anyway I have a lot of good stuff planned for you guys so keep checking back.
And thanks to everyone for all the support, it feels amazing to get good feedback on the site cause I worked so hard on it!
Sharing things with people that appreciate it really makes life worthwhile.
